Hakuba Happo-one snow season ends 6th May

Dear Guests from Japan & around the world, thank you for visiting Hakuba Happo-one this season & spending your holidays with us.
Today we officially close the ski resort for the 2018-2019 season.

We planned to open Hakuba Happo-one on 23rd November 2018 however, due to insufficient snowfall we officially opened the upper slopes on 15th December.
It seemed like we had two winters with a comeback in April. Spring was delayed & we continued to operate the ski resort until today 6th May.
Overnight low temperatures helped to maintain fairly firm conditions for good on piste skiing/riding.
Happo Patrol recorded the highest accumulated snow depth at Kurosbishi at 340cm on the 3rd April and the season total came to just over 10 meters measured at 1,680m in the resort boundary.
To mark some highlights of the year, our lift operations began in 1958 & we celebrated our 60th anniversary. We designed our own Happi (traditional Japanese festive coat) & a chochin (Japanese lantern).「COEDO」a specialist craft beer company brewed 1400 bottles of a collaboration anniversary Happo amber ale beer.

One of the most auspicious events we take pride in celebrating at Happo is the Fire Festival, this year marked the 49th year & many guests attended the exciting night held on Nakiyama slope.
We engaged in some challenging ventures on & off the resort & officially opened & managed the off-piste area 「OMUSUBI」as a new adventure powder area for experts.
Happo Patrol participated in overseas training programs with Ski Patrol from Mt. Hotham & Falls Creek Australia & Verbier Switzerland with the goal to share knowledge & increase the overall safety, rescue & training operations.
On mountain dining saw an increase in 4 new venues including Zun Pachi Ramen House at Shirakaba slope, the renewed Cafe & Kitaone Kogen Terrace at Kitaone offering a 3 course lunch & table service. Après Dining, a unique outdoor dinner & snow cat experience launched its debut here in mid-January.
At Usagidaira Terrace, Hakuba White Horse “Highball with Scotch” bar opened & extended the outdoor deck entertaining a fantastic après ski atmosphere.

With new snow making technology installed on the Nakiyama & Riesen Slalom course, Happo extended the opening of the famous top to bottom ski slope until the first week of April.

2019-2020 will be another season to look forward to with Olympic fever & overwhelming excitement in the air when Tokyo hosts the summer games.
It is with great anticipation that Hakuba hopes to attract many of the visitors with interest & curiosity about one of the world’s biggest sporting events to extend their travel journey & visit us here in Nagano, Hakuba Village home of the 1998 winter Olympics.

Thank you again & we wish you a fine summer. See you next winter.
